Today I got my Yellow Fever vaccination, necessary for a visa into Gabon. The guy at Passport Health was, thank God, not only a Christian, but a Pastor, a medical missionary, a professor, and a swell guy.
I went in, thinking I would need Typhoid, Yellow Fever, and a Rabies Primary. He talked me out of the Rabies Primary, and saved me $675.
I liked him.
He suggested instead, that I invest in a nice insurance package. He explained that rabies wasn't really that much of a risk, and that an insurance package would cover not only rabies, but everything imaginable. That seemed to me smart thinking.
Despite his stellar advice, I am out $280 dollars. That was kind of unavoidable, but the funny thing is, it didn't hurt. It's quite the amount of money to take out of your own pocket, but I felt that I wasn't really spending my own money. That was God's money, in my bank account. This has given me a great deal of peace.
Later today, I will book some plane tickets. Hooray! 2000 more dollars!
I am, despite myself, excited.
After that I'm gonna go hang out with some people and write letters to all you!
P.S. Did you know that Yellow Fever vaccine has a 100% protection rate? I could bathe in liquid yellow fever. Typhoid not so much. :/
